Boudin’s Mental Health Graduate Terrorizes Asians and Children
Mental Health Diversion- the New Revolving Door
Eddie is not a good person. During the San Francisco portion of his criminal career, he has been arrested for burglary, stealing cars, narcotics, served 9-months for a robbery, committed a sexual battery, more burglaries, threats, more burglaries.
Eddie’s criminal behavior thrived under Boudin
Per sources:
· Under District Attorney Chesa Boudin, in February 2020, Eddie pulled a robbery at Powell and Market Streets. Boudin reduced Eddie’s robbery charge to a mere theft and battery.
· In August 2020, Eddie committed an assault and resisted SFPD on the 900 block of Harrison Street. Boudin proceeded to only try to revoke Eddie’s probation, rather than adding another felony to his resume.
· On September 20, 2020, in the courtyard of a condominium complex, Eddie picked up a metal chair and threw it at an Asian woman’s 5-year-old and 3-year-old children. The mother told SFPD that her mother-in-law had encountered Eddie’s aggressive behavior only 3-weeks earlier.
Eddie was arrested for the attack on the children and spent 7-months in custody. On April 22, 2021, in Christine Van Aken’s court, Eddie’s assault on the young children was erased because he had completed attendance at mental health diversion meetings (California Penal Code section 1001.36). With Covid waning as an excuse to release felons back to the streets, Chesa Boudin has reverted to allowing mental health diversion as his go-to means of keeping felons out of County Jail.
Thus, thanks to Boudin, Eddie was released back into the public.
Eddie’s moves his rampage on Asians and children to West Portal
Eddie’s September 2020 assault on the children occurred in the eastern part of the city, a quarter mile from SFPD Chief Scott’s residence. In 2021, Eddie chose West Portal as his new target neighborhood for terrorizing Asians and children.
· On September 5, 2021, at West Portal and Vicente Streets, Eddie was the suspect when a 14-year-old girl was struck in the back of the head, sending her to the pavement.
· On the morning of September 15, 2021, a cashier at the Ocean Avenue Walgreens called 9-1-1- to report that a person in a gray hoodie struck an elderly Asian male in the head with a soda bottle.
· Later in the morning, a 49-year-old Asian female described screaming and ducking an attempted blow at 105 West Portal Avenue by a male wearing a gray hoodie.
· (above and below) Just after noon, at 222 West Portal Avenue, a 72-year-old Asian male was struck on the back of the head by a person matching Eddie’s description and wearing a gray hoodie. The Sunday punch knocked the victim to the ground.

SFPD obtained numerous videos from West Portal businesses that documented Eddie’s unprovoked assaults—almost exclusively on Asian Americans. On September 25th, Eddie was arrested while wearing the same gray hoodie that was captured in video surveillance. When an SFPD officer asked Eddie why he struck his victims, he said, “Because I want to.”
Prosecutorial Questions:
Eddie is obviously a serious threat to the safety of our community. His rampage raises two important questions:
1) Had Boudin prosecuted Eddie’s February 2020 as a robbery instead of a vanilla theft, if he had fought for a new felony charge for Eddie’s August 2020 assault, if he had pursued criminal charges for Eddie throwing a metal chair at a 3-year-old, would there have been later West Portal victims? In fact, by Boudin allowing Eddie to remain on the streets, Boudin actually increased the SF crime rate by Eddie’s subsequent crimes.
2) What has been achieved by allowing career criminals to attend mental therapy if upon graduation they immediately revert to their old habits and terrorize the community?
While some crimes are obviously committed by people suffering from mental issues, in Boudin’s effort to reduce County Jail’s population to zero, he has widened mental health diversion eligibility to almost everyone that commits a crime. (See my previous article on Boudin allowing a person that committed 19 takeover robberies eligible for mental health diversion.)
Mental health diversion not only failed Eddie, but his later victims. Which triggers a third question: Has Boudin’s policies made you feel safer?
The following crime statistics document the crime wave under Boudin and will refute his claim that this article is fearmongering.
